Malawi Revenue Authority transitioned from EFD-issued tax invoices to the Electronic Invoicing System. MRA materials describe electronic invoices, stock records, real-time transaction transmission and integration with business systems.

MRA announced that the transition from EFDs to EIS ended on 31 January 2026.
MRA's EIS API documentation describes REST and JSON integration for POS systems and includes offline-support concepts. The final implementation must follow current MRA guidance.
